Sometimes,’ said Pooh, ‘the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”― A.A. Milne (Winnie the Pooh).

With another Christmas come and gone and the New Year peaking its head around the corner, I have to say I feel utterly exhausted. Which is why I’m so happy I gave myself the breathing space I needed to complete this project. And was able to do so, with a whole lot of love.
In the end I decided to use pen, metallic ink and gouache. The gouache was perfect for the fine detail and depth of colour I was trying to achieve. It’s also fast drying, so with limited time was really helpful. I worked on 300 gsm watercolour paper which was slightly textured and off white in colour.
I became completely lost whilst painting and enjoyed every minute. For the first time in a long time I felt like my artistic self. I wasn’t questioning what I was doing. I was just simply enjoying being creative.
I hope you all have a very happy New Year and until next week… happy painting.
